Human Waste
Project / Snot / Manhole
In: F-FEST @ The Roxy in Los Angeles, California
By: Geegaloo
At this point in time I am kicking myself
in the head. Why? Because I can't believe it took me this long to see HUMAN
WASTE PROJECT. I knew the name but not the sound. The guitar floats between
early Jane's influence and that 90's streetcore vibe. The drums add nice steady
grooves mixed with simple syncopation to highlight the vocals. 5-string bassists
usually scare me, but not tonight. While dealing with loud noise, Aimee's
vocals echo(pun) with sincerity. She is such a doll on stage and that little
'cinco de mayo' impersonation while introducing Tweety shows her to be a tangible
person and a candidate for a leader of the new school. I can't wait to see
them at The Rock next week.
Listen up boys and girls! It's now time for stoopid pet tricks with SNOT .
People should strive to not make hasty judgements on a band that is light
hearted. Snot prove time and time again that they will rule the heap in the
not so distant future. Who could have ever dreamed of the combination of punk
and hip-hop? Give these guys credit for breaking down boundaries. Missing
from tonight's set were crowd favorites, 'Mr. Brett' and 'My Balls, Your Chin.'
But that did not stop the full house at The Roxy from having a good time.
Songs that always move, 'Stoopid' and 'I Jus Lie' prove to be instant hits.
May 27 is the day that we all head down to Tower and get their new album GET
SOME.
Next up, the band formerly known as MANHOLE. Yep. They have been sued and
are being forced to change their name. Noise International has filed bankruptcy
and is now gonna operate under the name F.A.D. Records with distribution through
Caroline Records. Yes, Tairrie and the boys are quite pissed, but what's new.
This just adds more fuel to their fire. Tairrie brings JACK OFF JILL buddy
Jessica on stage to help scream on 'Victim.' She doesn't have the effect Lyn
has on 'Down,' but gets her point across. Manhole played a really loose set
tonight musically. The songs were a little rushed, but I attribute that towards
anger. They still played my fav, 'Hypocrite' second in the set. This song
has such great meaning that you should all give a listen and question your
own sincerity. Night one of F FEST is now over and I give a huge applause
to L.A. bands for standing a cut above the rest. It is about time we take
the biz back.
