A friend of mine arrived here on Thursday after 4 years in the military in Europe. i figured we would take him to see a few of my favorite local bands to show him how things have changed. Things definitely change in this world. Especially his ability to talk to the ladies, namely Christy and Devon the Jagermeister girls. WHOA! NEXT! We witnessed a reamped(get it) version of FLAMBOOKEY tear through with a new found passion. Stick had his amp head repaired and that energy showed tremendously. I have never heard them sound this good and thick. They deserve a big push from F.A.D. records.

SPIKE 1000 from San Francisco is a female fronted four piece that delivers a solid punch of groove infected psychedelic metal. I am waiting for a press kit from bassist Mike to give you all here in LA LA land some more info. The rhythm section is as tight as a frogs ass.(not speaking from experience) Her voice is very moody and possesses a great deal of versatility including some jazzy/blues influence.

What is heavier, a pound of lead or a pound of SUCTION? Physicists would argue neither, but I beg to differ and say SUCTION is way heavier. The OC quartet is most definitely the most powerful and loudest band in the world. Loud is great, but not at The Rock. The sound system there is just not capable of being clear at that volume. I loved the way they opened the set with the mellow intro of TIME. And then the beast is unleashed for 30 minutes. JUNK still proves to be my favorite.

HUMAN WASTE PROJECT, fronted by the love of my life Aimee, concludes my evening of great music. The soundman, I believe his name is Eddie, does his best with what The Rock has to offer. They should seriously invest. Or maybe it is the way the room is set up? I love everything HWP has to offer, dynamics, groove, power, emotion. Two words for this show, "fucking rad"(hmmm) Who says that anymore? June 10 is when their Hollywood Records debut comes out. We can hardly wait.
