So, this is theSTART? I asked a friend of mine, Dan Pappas how he would describe the band's sound, and since he said it best, "New wave female fronted rock from the future that you can dance to." That's exactly what they sound like, and if that doesn't sound good to you, then you probably won't like this EP, at all. But if you're into bands like Denali, and The Cardigans, you would dig theSTART. If you haven't heard theSTART's previous work, I think Death Via Satellite is a great introduction to the band's sound.

theSTART have been a band since 1998 working hard, and building a fan base that found themselves on tour with bands such as Weezer, Incubus, AFI, Hot Water Music, Alkaline Trio, The Used, Finch, and The Vans Warped tour. Finally at the end of 2003 they are getting a pretty solid record deal from one of the bigger indie labels, and I feel like they should have gotten a lot more attention earlier on. Their first and second record label both closed their doors.

Now that the band has label support, I think they will only get bigger, which is what they deserve. Aimee Echoe's vocals are hauntingly surprising, and she takes the listener on a sexy space rock ride of a lifetime. The song "Death Via Satellite" has the catchiest chorus ever, and it sounds awesome. Although sounding quite original for our time now... they owe a lot to the bands they've borrowed from, such as The Cure, and Sonic Youth. Death Via Satellite is a great space, new wave rock explosion, and I suggest you get a copy of this EP.
