Album: The Death Via Satellite Ep
Source: Smother
By: J-Sin
I first remember when theStart formed when Jamie Miller then Snots drummer
went off to be in his girlfriends band. While there was a huge buzz about
the band just as there is now unfortunately both of their former labels closed
shop, which was devasting. Now that Nitro Records picked them up their future
is much brighter and hopefully the band whose debut was #7 on APs Top
25 Best Records of 2001 will be here to stay. Vocally Aimee Echo switches
gears from her Human Waste Project days with a decidedly more retro new wave
sound. On Death Via Satellite they effectively combine the influences
of new wave, punk, and 80s synth pop influences to get the own little
niche in the music arena. The production on this album is off the hook and makes
their songs sound more poppy than they probably are.
