L.A-based foursome, the START, kicks off their debut Shakedown!, blending eighties
synth-pop with punk-pop sound. The album features brilliant catchy melodies
with power guitar riffs and long missed new wave pop-synth patches. Aimee Echo's
growling and screaming voice is well matched with their New Wave pop meets punk
rock tunes like "Shakedown," "Gorgeous," "Communion"
and "Hang On Me." You can catch her influences of big 80's acts like
The Cure, U2, Police, and Fugazi throughout the album.
The START is currently on tour with big acts like
Weezer, Cold, and Sugar Ray and soon to be on tour with Incubus. If you are
a fan of 80's new wave, or like bands like No Doubt, Garbage, New Order, Depeche
Mode, or even Orgy, then you will not be disappointed with this album. In fact,
this will probably stay in your CD player for a while.
